Here We Go Again

President Bush just announced Paul Wolfowitz as his pick for president of the World Bank. This neoconservative cocksucker was one of the prime architects of the war in Iraq. If anyone still believes the Bush regime is anything other than a gang of thugs, let this be further proof. It doesn't matter how much someone lies, fails, or just plain gets it wrong. As long as you are loyal to Bush, you will be promoted.

A few quotes:

"There’s a lot of money to pay for this that doesn’t have to be U.S. taxpayer money, and it starts with the assets of the Iraqi people…and on a rough recollection, the oil revenues of that country could bring between $50 and $100 billion over the course of the next two or three years…We’re dealing with a country that can really finance its own reconstruction, and relatively soon." [Source: House Committee on Appropriations Hearing on a Supplemental War Regulation, 3/27/03]

"Let's look at it simply. The most important difference between North Korea and Iraq is that economically, we just had no choice in Iraq. The country swims on a sea of oil." [From comments made at an Asian security summit in Singapore, May 2003}

"the decision to highlight weapons of mass destruction as the main justification for going to war in Iraq was taken for bureaucratic reasons...." [From an interview with Vanity Fair magazine, Spring 2003]

The good news is that European leaders have veto power over President Bush's pick for that position. Let's hope they utilize it.

That's all I have time for right now. I'll return later with something non-political.
